How Was Your NaNoWriMo?

Whew! It’s the last day of November. How was your NaNoWriMo? I hadn’t planned on doing it the traditional way, but I had planned on finishing my WIP novel. A Shadow on the Snow. Then my youngest got strep, and when we thought he was on the mend, he broke out in a terrible rash of hives that took almost a week to improve. Despite that, I was able to attend the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference. I skipped some sessions so I could write uninterrupted. I now have a goal to finish my novel by Dec. 7, in time for a FB book party where I’ll discuss writing “A Rose from the Ashes”. I want to announce that I’ve finished the sequel.

If you participated in NaNoWriMo, tell me how it went. Or if you didn’t, what’s the state of your writing today? If you’re a reader, tell me what you read through November. I’d love to know!

  1. Mine flopped! My students did a brilliant job, and made me dress up as a blob fish. My personal writing just never got going. I’d done an entire editing round on a novel during our fall break, and wrote a short story and honestly, when Nano came I went in tired. I’m hoping to close out with 20,000 words (instead of my goal of 30,000…) If that’s going to happen, though, I suppose I’d better get back to writing 🙂
I’m glad to hear you got some great progress made in spite of challenges- glad to hear your kiddo is doing better, too!

    1. Did you post a photo of your costume? I remember the one from last year. Because I handwrite my first drafts, I can’t have word number goal. But I’ve made myself a deadline of to have the final chapter of my novel done by December 7.

      1. I haven’t posted a photo yet- coming up with a “blobfish” costume was an…interesting…challenge. It mostly involved wearing a pink fitted sheet with a face!
I’m excited about your novel! What’s your next step- if you don’t mind me asking. Are you planning to query or go indie or other?

        1. Because I’m using characters from “A Rose from the Ashes”, the publisher of my short story gets first look rights. I’m really hoping they’ll take it. I know the ladies who own it and I like working with them.

  2. Way to go, JPC! Awww, strep and the rash can be scary!
I didn’t attempt NaNoWriMo, but the editing stage of my WIP is coming along nicely 🙂

  3. My friend always did this and won several times in her category, but this year she wasn;t feeling well and was doing her YouTube channel so she didn’t participate, she passed away two weeks ago from the virus. :'(
