A lot of writers like to write to music, so I’d like to know what music inspires your writing? I used to write my mysteries to music. But I think being married and raising kids has overtaxed my brain so much that now I have to write in silence. But when I’m not writing, I enjoy listening to music and letting it suggest scenes.

I have to have instrumental music when I write. No words. It has to stay in the background and not distract me.
I used to listen to a mix of instrumental and songs. Now I need silence.
I cannot write with music playing either! Sometimes I like to pick my MC’s favorite songs, or songs that are a good illustration of the MC’s life or internal battle. When I’m not writing, I listen to the song(s) a lot to help me figure out other aspects of the MC’s preferences and personality.
I never thought of listening that to music that way. Thanks for the idea!
